LABORATORY OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

Enviroleach Technologies has developed an environmentally friendly process for leaching gold from ores, concentrates and e-waste materials. We are looking Lab Operations Supervisor who is interested in joining an exciting fast-paced team at our laboratory and research facility in Burnaby. 

Job Requirements and Description

  • Directly supervise staff or work closely with them to carry out required laboratory tests and analytical work

  • Schedule personnel time, resources and workflow

  • Monitor and maintain lab QC standards

  • Maintain excellent records of test work

  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and chemicals and order supplies as needed

  • Develop assay and analytical methods required for the research and development test work

  • Ensure calibration of lab equipment such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers, ICP’s, etc.

  • Accountable for routine and non-routine equipment maintenance

  • Employ proper laboratory methods to track samples and projects

  • Solve day to day technical and process problems

  • Ensure team has sufficient information, resources and materials to do their job safely.

  • Responsible for ensuring all safety equipment is in place on a daily basis

  • Support and comply with health & safety initiatives and programs

  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness in the laboratory and workplace

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Post-Secondary Education in a Science and Chemistry – preference for specialization in Analytical Chemistry and/or Hydrometallurgy or with equivalent experience or training

  • Strong leadership skills and experience in supervising technical teams

  • Excellent knowledge of analytical methods and use of analytical equipment

  • Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills

  • Detail orientated & good record keeping skills

  • Minimum 4-7 years of relevant laboratory work experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years of previous supervisory experience is preferred

  • Previous experience operating laboratory instruments and equipment and the ability to maintain and trouble-shoot them

  • Detail orientated with good record keeping skills

  • Comfortable working with tools to assemble lab apparatus and equipment

  • Knowledge of good laboratory management practices.

  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.

  • Proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel and Outlook).

  • Ability to set up lab apparatus for various types of work

  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples & lab equipment.
